TINT and Chromecast

Chromecast is a thumb-sized media streaming device that plugs into the HDMI port on any TV. Simply use an Android phone, tablet, iPhone, iPad, Mac or Windows laptop, or Chromebook to cast your favorite entertainment and apps right to the big screen. For more information click here.

Why use Chromecast with TINT?

  • Fewer wires
  • No need to use a separate device solely used to run the TINT (and risk losing it!)
  • Remote management of the TINT from the TINT Dashboard (easy one-time setup)
  • Compatible with any display with an HDMI input

What are the requirements to use Chromecast with TINT? 

  • Any display with an HDMI input
  • Any one of the following devices:
    1. A desktop - PC or Mac
    2. A Chromebook
    3. An iOS device 
    4. An Android device 
  • Google Chrome with the Cast option
  • A fully configured Chromecast connected to the same network that your other device is on
  • An Enterprise, Performance, Starter or Event Plan with TINT

How to set up your Chromecast

  1. Plug in your Chromecast device via the HDMI port on your display screen. Then, either plug the other end of the USB power cable into an open USB port on your TV OR into the included power adapter which you will then plug into a power outlet. Note: Only use the provided AC adapter.
  2. Connect your Chromecast device. Double-check that the Chromecast and the mobile device, tablet, or laptop you are using to set up Chromecast with, are both on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Set up Chromecast. Click here and follow Google’s simple setup instructions.

How to cast to Chromecast via the TINT board list

  1. Download and install Google Chrome if not already installed on the device you are using.
  2. Log into www.tintup.com, and in the TINT Dashboard, click the ... beside the TINT you’d like to display. Then, click "Cast to Chromecast", you’ll be prompted to select a personalization before click Apply:

  3. Select the device you’d like to cast to.  Your TINT will load within seconds on your chosen display.

How to cast to Chromecast from inside your TINT board

You can display directly through the TINT Editor by clicking "Display" on the bottom left-hand side of the page:

Select or search for your personalization on the right-hand side panel.  Different personalizations will give you different options. The display options are

  • Signage

If it’s an old personalization before hyper-personalization, then it will ask you to choose Website Embed or Signage Display as in the picture below.  For displaying your TINT board, choose Signage Display.

  1. Click next
  2. Here it will give you three options, Standard Connection, Chromecast and TINTmix.
  3. Pick the Chromecast option to beam it directly to your Chromecast, follow the instructions and click on Open In New Tab  
  4. This will open the list of devices that you can cast to. Select the device you’d like to cast to.  Your TINT will load within seconds on your chosen display.

How to cast your TINTmix

  1. Download and install Google Chrome if not already installed on the device you are using.
  2. Log into www.tintup.com, and in the TINT Dashboard, click the TINTmix tab. Click ... next to the Tintmix you’d like to display and then select "Cast to Chromecast":

  3. Select the device you’d like to cast to, and your TINTmix will load on the display.
