Everything you need to know about Social feeds

In this article, we will cover:

What is a feed?

A connection (or feed) is any stream that you add from any of our supported networks. Click here for more information on what you can connect and feed counts.

Things you should know about feeds

  1. The link between a feed and TINT, a token, can expire for a number of reasons.
For example, the natural expiration time of the token based on the individual Social Networks rules, changing a password, changing the email address, security reasons, and logging out of the social network platform, …
  2. Instagram and Facebook are connected.  If anything happens to the token on Facebook’s side, it can affect Instagram’s social feed connection.
  3. Instagram will only allow us up to 24 hours of content when you refresh a non-branded feed.  This is based on Instagram’s algorithm and it’s not something we can change on our side.

How to know when a Feed is not pulling content

There are normally two ways of seeing that the feeds are not pulling in any content.

The usual way is to see the yellow exclamation mark next to your social feed in TINT:

mceclip0.png

The other way is when your content hasn't been updated.  To double-check that the feed is not pulling content without the yellow exclamation mark, go to the social network, for example, Facebook and look up a page that you’ve set up, if you see posts that aren’t in your TINT, then it’s possible that it’s not pulling the content.

We will also send the person who owns the account/feeds an email saying that their token has expired.  It will look something like this:

How to resolve a Feed/Account

The first way is when you get a yellow resolve button like this:

  6. Log into the accounts you own

The second way is through when you are adding a feed.

How to Check Facebook Admin Rights

To link your Facebook account to TINT to pull content, you need to have a Facebook Business Page or your company will need to make you administrator on their page(s).
Ways to check this can vary depending if you use Facebook's Business Suite or New Page Experience to manage your pages.

The following is for New Page Experience:

  1. Click on this link to bring up a list of all the pages that you manage.  Here you will be able to see if you have a page role but you need to be admin/page owner for it to link correctly to TINT.   If you do not see the page you are looking for, this means that you don't have a role on the page.  Ask the page owner or admin to add you to the page you need to use on TINT.
  2. If the link doesn't work, you will have to switch on the page that you want to check.  Click on the profile circle in the right-hand corner and click see all pages if you don't see the page that you need.  Click on the page.
  3. Once you have switched over to the correct page, click on the profile circle again and Click on Settings
  4. Click on New Page Experience
  5. They either should be listed under People with Facebook access (which used to be Facebook Admin) or Business account access which would indicate the page owner.

  2. Once you have switched over to the correct page, click on the profile circle again and Click on Settings
  3. Click on New Page Experience
  4. Click Add new next to People with Facebook Access to give them the correct access.
  5. This will open a popup window and you will need to find them by name or email address.
  6. Click on Give Access.  This adds them to the list but says the invitation expires in 31 days.  If you want to cancel the invitation, click on the ... next to their name and that will revoke the invitation.
  7. This should send a notification to the person you are adding.  This sometimes is a notification but sometimes, it's an email depending on settings.  Once they accept, they will have access to the page.

How to transfer a feed

What happens if you are leaving or someone on your team has left the business but you want to keep those feeds active.  This is where transferring a feed comes in.  This feature gives you the ability to transfer a Feed from one person to another.  The new owner of the feeds needs to connect the accounts of the social feeds that will be transferred to them before starting the transferring process.  See How to add a Social Account above.

  1. Click on the account at the top right
  2. Click on Team Settings
  3. Click on Social Accounts
  4. Find the Name/Account of the person that owns the social feeds currently in the list or use the search bar at the top.
  5. Click on the ...
  6. Click on Transfer Social Feed
  7. Select the social feeds that you want to transfer.  You can select some or all of them.  The social feeds are grouped by TINT boards.
  8. Click Transfer
  9. In the search bar, search for the person that you want the links to be transferred to. If you can’t find them, it means that the social networks haven’t been set up on the new owners' side.  Get them to log into TINT and add their social networks to continue.
